National Space Day

Visit to the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal

On the occasion of National Space Day, members of Astrophiles India, including enthusiastic school students and working professionals, visited the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal to explore India’s rich journey in science and space technology.

The highlight of the visit was the special Chandrayaan-3 exhibit, showcasing detailed models of the Vikram Lander and Pragyan Rover. The display beautifully reflected how India is blending ancient wisdom with cutting-edge technology to achieve new milestones in space exploration.

The tour was guided by the club’s convener, Sandeep Poddar, who explained the significance of the Chandrayaan-3 mission and why India targeted the lunar south pole—a region full of scientific promise. He also shared fascinating insights behind the exhibits, sparking curiosity not only among the club members but also other visitors at the centre.

Members explored the various galleries, discovering scientific principles and their real-world applications in an engaging, hands-on manner. Among the attractions, the Foucault Pendulum in the main lobby stood out as a favorite, demonstrating in a simple yet powerful way that Earth rotates on its axis.

Spending nearly five hours at the centre, the group combined learning with celebration, honoring India’s achievements in space while strengthening their passion for science and discovery.
